Storage, Terminal tackle in picticular isn’t the most sexy thing in kayak fishing world but it does play an important role in your fishing.
The choices are overwhelming when it comes to tackle storage and there is no wrong way to do it, whatever works for you is what’s best. Some people strategies is one box everything goes into and others are super organized everything has its place. Its big business just go to your local tackle store and look at all the storage boxes, bags, tubes, and whatever else you can think of a million ways to store tackle.
Here are a couple things you can do for terminal tackle that may help you get more organized. Our dilemma as kayak anglers is being able to take all the tackle we want to take and keep it organised. There are more than several companies making really good products to help you get more organized but I just couldn’t fit what I needed on the water in them and after surfing the net for ideas came across using high grade and really thick plastic bags in a storage box with dividers. The plastic bags are 8 mil thick and can easily take some abuse and are incredibly cheap.
Load up on some tungsten and bag it, write on the bag what its is and every size has its own bag just follow the same with hooks and other weights for any techniques you may use. The confidence you get from being able to switch things up can really be huge in a punch where the bite changed and you have to make adjustments on the fly. Your selection can grow and change over time, it’s a simple and super effective way to take a lot of tackle and stay organized and ready to use.
Having several size 8 mil bags can also be used for your soft plastics and basically anything you want to store and keep dry and organized. If you use freezer ziplock bags and tired of them bursting at the wrong moments these 8 mil bags are pretty bomb proof (of course you can destroy this bags if you try) and if you do blow one out they are not that very expensive. You can easily get a more than a year out of them, once you start using them you want to put everything in them.
Hope this helps you get organized and land that big bass!!
